With miles of stunning coastline, beautiful countryside and two National Landscapes, East Devon is an ideal destination for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. The district is home to the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, which is the only place in the world displaying unbroken evidence of 185m years of evolution. But the countryside and beaches aren’t our only attractions.

East Devon District Council has an extensive development agenda, helping to deliver on the ongoing success of the City of Exeter. This includes the new town of Cranbrook and the current consultation on a second new town through our draft local plan, which sits alongside our Enterprise Zone and a multi-million pound set of investments designed to deliver on our net zero commitment.

The district also offers vibrant spots across the market towns of Honiton and Axminster, as well as its largest town, Exmouth, meaning there is something for everyone in East Devon.

Of course, every council has ‘ambitions’, but they don’t necessarily have our commitment, investment and drive to make them a reality. The difference is, we haven’t been afraid to invest. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve our economy, our towns, our communities and our whole district in bold and innovative ways.

Some say we’re redefining the role of district councils, but we see it more as doing good by our residents and businesses. We’re making East Devon a place where culture sits at the heart of economic progress, where tourism is helping the county flourish and where our families can live their best lives. We’re now starting to achieve this through delivering incredible projects, such as shaping one of the UK’s newest and fast-growing towns, funding our important enterprise zone and ensuring we stay afloat of our environmental responsibilities. And not just that, we have many more initiatives, projects and ideas waiting for their time in the sun.
